Somerset British Longhair

British Longhair

Selective breeding began in the 1800s, with a focus on the British Blues temperament and the blue-grey variant. But after WWII, the Shorthair population suffered a massive decline, severely diminishing the gene pool. With post-war restrictions and the popularity of other cats, it became a real risk the breed would be lost. With the introduction of Turkish Angoras and Persians into the bloodlines, Longhairs occasionally are a result of this.

Why adopt from SBS Cats?

N

We ethically breed to improve the breed, focusing on producing quality kittens rather than a quantity of cats.

N

Our kittens are pedigree and you are buying from a breeder that shows. When you adopt a kitten from a breeder that shows and displays their cats for judging, the results are great quality kittens meeting high breeding standards

N

No sheds for our kittens and cats. We breed our cats ethically, healthily and lovingly in our family home around children, other pets and farm animals - aiding in the development and maintenance of their sweet personalities. We are devoted to serving them a healthy diet with a diverse life full of fun

I honestly feel I have hit the jackpot in discovering SBS cats and couldn’t recommend
Marcellus enough as the most passionate and conscientious breeder I know. Thank you
Marcellus for providing me and my family with the most treasured King Solomon

We can’t recommend SBS more!! Marc kept us up to date with photos and videos from
the day Alphie was born to the day he reached his forever home with us. It’s so rare you
meet a breeder who is as attentive and involved in the upbringing of his cats than Marc
is. The fact that he raises each cat as if it were his own, shows when you finally meet
your baby.
